Unlike Louvre in Paris or Prado in Madrid, Rome does not have the major sites and museums located in one unique place. The city invites the tourist to discover the many, varied and valuable museums.

The following list is just a selection of the most important musems in Rome, to basically direct the tourist in his choices. It does not constitute an exhaustive nor detailed catalogue of all museums in Rome and all its exhibitions.

Attention. Opening and closing times may slightly vary at times. Also double-check during religious or national holidays (January 1st, Easter, June 2nd, Xmas day, etc.)
